If we had to describe Sadie in three words, we'd say that she's sweet, gentle, and low maintenance!
Sadie can be a little reserved until she gets to know you, but her trust is quickly won, and you're soon rewarded with lots of kisses and belly rubs! Her favourite pastimes include playing with her Tug-E-Nuff toy, chewing on a deer antler, or chilling with her human friends (she's recently discovered the joys of relaxing on the sofa!) She is house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on-lead.
Sadie misses having a fur-sibling and needs to live with another confident and playful dog. She thrives in the company of other dogs and loves attending doggy daycare, where she happily plays the day away!
Sadie can be sensitive to noise and isn't fond of busy areas, so she'd prefer a quiet home in a more rural location. She is also unsure of visitors to the home, but will happily take herself off to her crate in moments of uncertainty.
Sadie's Story
The Street Hearts BG team spent four years trying to catch Sadie's mother, Shiba, without success. Due to the fact that she was a scared street dog, clever Shiba always outwitted us! Thankfully, at the beginning of December 2022, our amazing Outreach Worker, Lucy, managed to humanely catch Shiba and rescue her nine puppies, including Sadie. On a cold and snowy winters night, they were all brought to the safety of our shelter.
Sadie was adopted in May 2023 but surrendered back into our care in August 2023. Although Sadie was great on walks and in daycare, she just didn't enjoy being the only dog in her home, so her adopter made the sad decision to surrender her. This was in Sadie's best interests, and since she has been in foster care with another dog, she has thrived and is very happy.
