At Street Hearts BG, we are dedicated to educating our community about dog welfare and responsible pet ownership. Together with our partners at ABC Language Centre, we regularly conduct engaging and informative education sessions in various settings, including our shelter, schools, and community centres.
What we teach
Understanding abandoned street dogs: Through our sessions, we shed light on the plight of abandoned street dogs and the importance of responsible pet ownership. We discuss how spaying and neutering can help prevent overpopulation and reduce the number of homeless animals.
Compassion and empathy: We explore the reasons why some people mistreat dogs and emphasise the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect. Our aim is to instil compassion and empathy towards all animals in our participants.
Recognising feelings and emotions: Dogs, like humans, have feelings and emotions. We teach participants how to recognise and understand these emotions, fostering a deeper connection between humans and animals.
Safe interaction with dogs: Learning how to safely interact with dogs is essential for both humans and animals. We provide practical tips and guidance on approaching and handling dogs in a way that ensures the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.
Life at our shelter: Participants get an inside look into the daily lives of the dogs at our shelter, learning about their routines, enrichment activities, and the care they receive from our team.
Caring for your own dog: We equip participants with the knowledge and skills they need to properly care for their own dogs, including understanding their needs, providing proper nutrition, exercise, and healthcare.
